The views from
the front of the apartment are simply stunning, looking across picturesque
Loch Bracadale to Macleod’s Tables and from the bottom of the
extensive garden, the view extends further to Idrigill Point and MacLeod’s
Maidens. The sunsets can be quite spectacular and certainly provide
the perfect end to a day touring the island. The garden is, of course,
shared with your friendly hosts and the various wild visitors to the
garden - hedgehogs, deer, smaller wild birds and possibly the local
Eagles & Buzzards if you're lucky - you may have to drag yourselves
away from that lounge window - it's very engaging!
From Bramble Nook
it is a short drive to Talisker Distillery at Carbost and only a little
bit further to the remote, but beautiful Talisker Bay or indeed Glenbrittle
Bay, where the road brings you as close to the Black Cuillin as you
can with a car - a stunning road indeed!
Within a half
hour drive south, you can reach Sligachan, at the very heart of the
island, with easy access again to the Cuillins, both Red and Black.
Another 10 minutes and you are at the Ferry terminal at Sconser, where
it is just a short ferry ride to the stunningly beautiful island of
Raasay - a truly remote place of hidden treasures!
Heading north
from Bramble Nook you are only a short drive again from Dun Beag Broch
(ruins of an Iron Age fortified dwelling), on the outskirts of the
crofting community of Struan and then further on to the rugged, but
proud seat of the Clan MacLeod - Dunvegan Castle. From Dunvegan there
is easy access to the wonders of the North West of this unique island
- MacLeod’s Tables are now within touching distance and the
Coral Beaches just north of Dunvegan are a must see, in addition to
the isolated and rugged coastline guarded by Neist Point LightHouse
- at the most northwesterly point on the island!
